Pregnancy Workout

During all of my pregnancies I tend to gain a lot of weight, fifty to sixty pounds to be exact. By the time I am in the end of the third trimester I am pretty much miserable.

This time I have decided to try to change that and exercise during this pregnancy. I made myself do my workout today and I am happy that I did.

I am not trying to lose weight or even maintain my weight, what I am hoping for is a normal amount of pregnancy weight gain. I am also hoping that working out will ease tension and keep my body loose. I just have to stick with it.

The pregnancy workout that I use is called The Perfect Pregnancy Workout. The instructor is Karyne Steben who is a world-class acrobat formerly with Cirque du Soleil.

She is in her third trimester in the video and looks awesome!

What I like about this video is you can do beginner exercises or the advanced. There is no cheesy remarks or music, the person who narrates talks in a calm and quiet voice. The exercises will get your heart pumping and you can feel the burn in your muscles.

I also like that the instructor is in such great shape, it makes me think twice about having three peanut putter and jelly sandwiches before bedtime.

If you are looking for a good workout to do through your pregnancy (with your doctors ok of course) I recommend The Perfect Pregnancy workout.

Now lets see if I can keep this up.

I too gained about 50-60 pounds with each pregnancy. With my fifth one I walked on the treadmill every day up until the ninth month.
I still gained as much weight, but the good news is I was able to take it off much easier afterwards. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I suppose it can't hurt.
One challenge I had with exercising during pregancy was that it affected my blood sugar - to the point where I would weep after every workout. Not just because I was tired :) but because my blood sugar dropped and I crashed. I felt horrible. Ask your doc for tips on what and when you should eat before and after exercising.
And just to let you know, you look amazing and beautiful. Don't worry about the number on the scale; it means nothing.

Thanks Cathy. I have been sick every day since I found out I was pregnant. Since I worked out I have felt much better(I don't know if it is the workout or because I am ending the three month mark soon)

I know I will still be a big pregnant mama, and that's ok but I would like to be a healthy big mama. With a little bit of tone. :) Thanks for the hope :)

Good luck! I gained over 50 pounds with my last pregnancy and it was really frustrating, considering I ate well and worked out 3 times a week the whole time. (I gained 30 the first pregnancy and 40 the second, and didn't work out with those ones!)

Katie, I understand your frustration. I think our body knows what we need to gain to keep that little one happy. I just hope this time my body will give me a break. :)

I gained almost 80lbs when during my first pregnancy. So I did the work out thing with my second and it did seem to help. As long as you are careful and consult your doctor I think it will be good for you. Good luck.
